Joan Weiss's new paintings deal with the dissolution of form. Atmospheric rather than specific, they hint of land, sky and water while asserting the primacy of oil paint on canvas. Eccentric color creates emotional content. Her work, as always, plays in the area between the suggestion of space and the flatness of the picture plane.
